I just got a really nice e-mail from Madame Lejong, who has just been staying in the apartment - "Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de vacances sous une magnifique soleil et avec une bonne neige. L'appartement est parfait - il y a vraiment tout ce qu'il faut. Encore merci pour votre confiance et peut-être à l'année prochaine" And thank you too, Madame. Jeremy
Just back from a glorious fortnight in Risoul. Apart from New Year's day itself, which was misty and snowy, every day had blissful skiing, under clear blue skies. Wonderful.
Some great snowfall over the last couple of days. I've just been looking at the webcam, and the resort looks great. And another heavy fall forecast for next weekend. Great season ahead??!!
Alas, my skiing is over for the season, but I just received a crowing e-mail from a friend who's still out there - half a metre of snow fell there on Tuesday night, and the end-of-season skiing will be fantastic as a result. Ah well.
At least this late snow will help to fill up the reservoirs for the summer season. I think they used up all the water to generate extra hydro-power during that freezing February; and I've never seen the Lac de Serre Ponçon look so empty. Just back from Risoul - the hottest I've ever known it it mid-March! We were in shirt-sleeves out on the terrace at the Homme de Pierre restaurant - that's the highest on the Risoul side, and has the most spectacular view - highly recommended. It must have been + 25 degrees on a windless afternoon. What a change from February, just a month before, when we struggled even to reach the restaurant from the ski-lift (only 40 metres away), in the face of a fearsome head-wind, blowing ice crystals into our faces like shards of glass, in a temperature of - 25!!
